Thoughts on the Subject of Gays

The religion that is called "Christianity" and the act of actually following what Christ lived and taught is two completely different things. Christ did plenty of things that the religious folks (the Pharisees and Saducees) didn't like. One of those including telling a woman (in John chapt 7) caught in adultery that she was forgiven of what she had done when the 'religious' Pharisees and Sadducees wanted to stone her.

When you read about the life of Christ you find someone who "made no bones about" what was wrong versus what was right. But just because someone did something that was wrong (and separated them from God) that didn't stop Jesus from saying "Hey, let me show you what love is. You keep doing what you want, and I'll let them beat my body to a bloody mess and actually give up my life to pay for what you call having a good time".

Religious people condemn. Followers of Christ follow his example by giving up 'themselves' and following Jesus example in not living for their own desires but rather for God's (did I say example enough?). So, is homosexuality against God's will; yes. But then again so is so much as looking at a woman you are not married to and desiring her Matthew 5:28.

And it's not a matter of a bunch of 'do' and 'do nots' just as much as it's not a matter of a bunch of rules when your parents tell you don't stay out past 10pm and they don't want you to drink alcohol until you are older. It's just seems that way at the time because we're "stupid" teenagers who think we knows so much and usually have raging hormones that aren't helping matters. God is just a whole lot smarter than we are is all. Even if we are forty or fifty. God continues to give us direction because he has eternity in mind.

Relatively speaking if God tried to explain to most of us why he didn't want us to live a certain way, it would do as much good as a parent trying to explain to a three year old not to bang their 25 thousand dollar Toyota Camry with a hammer. The child doesn't know what a dollar is. All he knows is he likes the way the clang clang clang sounds :-) ... And 'we' have no idea what eternity is like. Or what God's plan for our eternity is.
