Ready for the Playpen

Sept 3rd 2010. As far as I am concerned this is the first day that my daughter was ready to enter her new play pen. For the last few days she has become increasingly malikot and she's also very strong. My daughter is eight months and twelve days old and as of about two weeks ago she was strong enough to hold on to my fingers (with no assistance) and support her entire body weight as I hold her suspended in mid air; wow! That is just 'too' strong for an eight month old; in my opinion !

My wife has leaned on being over prepared and I have tried very hard to curtail this desire that my wife has to get more things than our daughter needs or to try to put our daughter in situations she was not yet ready for. I've learned that independence at an early age is not a good thing.

My wife might disagree with whether I do things with my daughter that she is not ready for, pointing to the way that I give in to my daughter's "acrobatic" inclinations. But then, in my opinion, it's my daughter that's taking the lead on those inclinations. She really has a good time being dipped backwards and gently held upside down with the greatest expression of joy that you ever saw on a child :-)
